Hello all,

I have built a new machine and barely installed any applications on it.
The problem I have with is that sometimes when using Firefox (1.5)
and/or Thunderbird (1.5) it seems to freeze on the window itself.
Basically I can click on th links and it works but I can not click on
the task bar or anywhere else. few seconds then gets back to normal.

When I play World of Warcraft, if I click on the top of the window to
bring up the minimize restore etc menu, the game crashes and the PC sort
of freezes but VERY VERY slowly I can bring task manager and shut it
down. It uses 99% CPU. This never happened on my old PC.

How do I figure out where the problem is?

There could be a problem with the memory. Try running a memory test
program. Free ones are available at:

Sounds like the hard disk is heading off into the weeds.

Hello Kevin,
I have downloaded both programs and ran both testys and no errors were
found.

Also I formatted and reinstalled windows and things have improved
except when I switch from running programs. Sometimes things just
halt for a sec and only alt tab works to select a different program.

Need to know machine spec, but I can guess that
it is the video card driver. What video card?

AMD FX57
2 GB memory
Gigabyte SLI pro
2X LEadtek Winfast PX-7800 GTX 256 MB SLI
Gigabyte Aurora Case
Thermaltake water cooling (Temperature always around 32-35 C)

Driver forceware 81.98
Video BIOS number 5.70.02.11.68

If you can start fresh with a new install, I would sure go
after that video ( cards ) setup, and prove it before doing
another thing. Problem I'm seeing almost every day now
is the new video technology is just not there yet. If you
put a program on that pc that messes with the video
in any way at all, it could be causing conflicts. For example,
in your games, don't check the sync video to verticle
.... also in your nForce setup ( get Coolbits ) make sure
that is not set. Vert sync is for CRT, and older video
cards .... LCD doesn't need it, but the game will try, and
louse up the video FPS real good. That could be the pauses
you are seeing. Another possibility is BIOS vs drivers.
Your BIOS version has to be current with the drivers
you are using. If you update drivers, they might require
a very recent BIOS version, or the video will be affected.
