I have a Dell laptop that came with a diagnostic CD which tests the
entire system - component by component. These seem to be in=depth
tests. Where can I get generic CD's that do the same thing for any
computer? Thanks.......

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, "Can you tell me, Sir, which way do I go from
here?" The Cat replied, "That depends Very Much on Where you Want to get to!"

Define what a 'generic' test would test For. The Dell people know Exactly
what is instally on their OEM system.

OK, point taken. Guess I don't know exactly what I want. If I get a
custom made PC, I would want to be able to be able to test all the
components (at one time if possible - like the Dell CD does). Does
such a program(s) exist? If not, what do you suggest? Thanks.

Windows has a number of self test apps. MSINFO32, DXDIAG, SFC /SCANNOW, and a
host of 'troubleshooters' for hardware, like modems, net cards, etc.

Open the help and support app, and search on the word 'troubleshoot'
