I am trying to connect to the internet with Windows XP. I
can get a valid IP address from my router, but I am
unable to connect to the internet. I cannot ping the
router, but I can ping other addresses in my LAN. I've
tried resetting TCP/IP using netsh and tried reinstalling
the adapter with no luck. Anyone have any ideas? TIA.

I am having the opposite problem with my network. I can
connect all my PC's (both of them) to the net via my
switch/router (Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router) but
when it comes to sharing files from my PC to my other PC
IT is impossible at this point. I can view and share files
from my other PC running XP Home Edition but on my PC XP
Pro, I am lost. What /how did you setup your network?

Make sure your are part of the same workgroup on all
computers you are trying to share with. Your TCP/IP may
be properly set, that is all on the same Class C subnet
with a proper subnet mask, the gateway properly ID'd as
the router, but if your workgroup is not the same for all
computers you cannot share files.
