Hi -

I'm running WXP Pro and connected to the Internet via a cable modem. The
computer has run fine until the last 7-10 days. Now, when I start up,
there's a longer-then-usual delay, and I am initially unable to connect to
the Internet. If I wait 1-5 minutes, the problem fixes itself and I'm good
to go the rest of the day. Previously, I had experienced very quick startups
and immediate Internet connections. After each start-up or reboot, my
computer's system log contains two DHCP warning entries, posted below.

I'm running a firewall and Norton Antivirus. I've had both programs for over
a year, and there's been no recent software or hardware additions. Overall,
it's not a major issue but I'm concerned it's an indicator of bad things
coming. I don't know whether I have a computer problem or an ISP problem.
Any advice is very much appreciated.....

Did you get any answers on this apart from the answer from Jason?

I've been having exactly the same problem as this apart from the fact that
I'm running XP Home.

I'm running Sygate Personal Firewall, NAV 2004 and connecting to the
internet via a cable modem.

Whilst I've had NAV for a over a year, up until recently I was running the
2001 version. I only installed it recently around the time I started to get
these problems using the internet at startup until after 5 minutes or so. I
therefore suspected it was Norton, but from what you say this may just be a
coincidence.

Could it be a recent Windows update? Very confusing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Peter
