Win2K Server Dialup adapter network set to "Obtain IP automatically" yet
IPCONFIG shows "DHCP enabled....NO"

Is this a bug and is there a fix?

are you looking at the settings for a PPP adapter, or for one of the
physical NIC's ?

Also, are you using ipconfig /all to see the information for all your
interfaces?

Yes, PPP. Assuming PPP is a protocol that carries IP traffic over serial
interfaces I assumed ticking the box "Obtain IP automatically" and
consquently being assigned a Dynamic IP would be regarded as using DHCP.
Silly me! :)

Yes, the settings refer to the WAN/PPP/SLIP adapter, not the internal LAN
NIC.

I havent had to deal with PPP for several years... but your logic is not
flawed.. telling it to get an IP automatically means that its using some
kind of dynamic system to get the IP from wherever you are connecting to. If
the connection is performing correctly, I wouldnt worry about it much.
