Here is the text without pretty pics
DHCP: If you have a DHCP connection, just connect the cable and Ubuntu will automatically detect the Internet.
Wired (Static IP): In case you are using the Static IP, you will have to set-up the Internet manually. You need some info from your ISP before we start setting up your network. You need to know - your
IP Address, Netmask, Gateway and DNS Name servers.
(a). Once you have this info, go to the Network Manager, click on 'Edit Connections.'
(b).Go to
Wired settings and click on Add
(c). Give it a Connection name
(d). Go to IPv4 Settings and select
Method: Manual
(e). Click on Add and enter following info:
- Address (Your IP)
- Netmask
- Gateway
- DNS Servers
- Search Domains
(f). Click on save and now you should be connected.
Wireless → Check if Ubuntu can detect your Wirelesss Card. Clicking on the network icon should show the wireless connections. Once you have the Wi-Fi detected, select your Wi-Fi connection and start using the Internet.
If you can't see wireless that means you are using proprietary Wi-Fi chips. You will have to download and install drivers for your Wi-Fi chips.
Hope this helps.
