Hi,

I have a laptop PIII 650 with win2k professional SP4 installed on it and a
high speed LAN connection.
I can't connect to the web any longer.
ipconfig/renew gives me a DHCP Server unreachable message.
I get no error messages from any application, jusy IE 6.0 telling me it
can't find the server, and MSN messenger 6.0 telling me it can't connect
since there's a firewall in between (I don't have one, never had).
I did install mcAfee viruscan 7.0 prof, but without the firewall (and a
while ago).
I also installed the Ms security fix for the blaster worm a few days ago,
but was still able to go online afterwards.
I deleted TCP/IP and reinstalled it, quadruple checked the settings (all ok)
and did the same for my pcmcia, wireless network card (card has no conflicts
and is working fine).
My friend, who uses the same wireless hub, is able to surf the net just
fine.

Any ideas???

Thanks

I have exactly the same problem here. Everything was just fine before
I installed SP4 to my machines. I think that the service pack has
something to do with this error. However - I am unable to test if I am
right about that because the machine which shares the network is my
girlfriends and she is not going to like it if I reinstall that windows
all over again... =)

strange though.
I installed SP4 a week ago already ???
Everything was working fine till tuesday.

Any keys i could play with here (?) :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

Strange yes... last time my DHCP was working was about an week ago
too and I am quite sure that it work couple of days after installing SP4.

I have heard that there is many network related changes on SP4 and I
have readed lots of same kind of problems lately...
