I'm running a Windows 2000 network with one DHCP server with a single
scope of 10.1.2.0. The address pool consists of 10.1.2.1-10.1.2.254,
with 10.1.2.1-10.1.2.40 excluded and no reservations.
The addresses in the range of 10.1.2.41-10.1.2.149 are distributed by
the server without any problems, but addresses in the range of
10.1.2.150-10.1.2.249 seem to have a problem. If I try to assign any
of them manually, I get an error message saying that the address is
already in use. However, none of those addresses show up in the
active leases, and if I ping them, the request times out.
Occasionally, one of the mystery addresses will appear in the address
leases as a bad_address. I tried setting the lease time to 1 hour
with 1 conflict attempt, but the address never releases. I've
regenerated the database and reconciled the scope, but nothing
changed.
It's a small network, so I know I don't have 100 unidentified nodes
out there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
