I'm being assigned a DHCP address, but can't ping anything on my network, by
name or address.
I can get out to the internet fine, though.
How can this be?
Win2k/2k3 AD domain. XP Pro on laptop.

Most like one of these:

XP firewall on other stations so they won't
respond to ping perhaps

(Rogue) DHCP server that is giving different
value from the other machines

Other possibilities:

some hub/switch problems

the other stations aren't working correctly

Sounds like possible a routing issue. What is the default gateway your DHCP
server is handing out? You may want to check into whatever that is, make
sure the routes are properly configured. You can't even ping the DHCP server?

It seems to be limited to this computer, a laptop I'm trying to join to the
domain.
