On my combined wired/wireless network with a D-Link 614+
hub I suddenly got one laptop computer to loose its ip
from the dhcp. I was unable to reset the automatic ip
obtaining and the computer was "locked" in tjhe "aipa-
mode".
The only soloution was to rest the computer to a former
system recovery point. Anyone knows a solution other than
resetting the whole system to an earlier configuration ?
I hav etried everythin within the TCP/IP settings.
Thanks !

Thank you for the suggestion - I have tried the NIC
deletion and lettin Windows find it again - no luck !
BTW: Just read article 822596 describing almost this
problem. Anyone know when the hotfix mentioned will be
officially available ?

I dbout 822596 is your problem. Try typing "ipconfig /renew" at a command
prompt and post back with the error.

I tried both ipconfig /renew and /release and also tried
both at one prompt. No error message but also no action /
solution / change in settings of the ip. Excecuted theese
commands with de-activated NIC because I did get the
message "Network..not ready for this command.." when I
executed with activated NIC. Thanks for your effort !

Well if the NIC is inactive you won't get an IP address no matter what you
do. Try reinstalling the NIC drivers.

You could try uninstall the NIC and then reinstall it.
