how can i get my dhcp to see my computer after i disable
APIPA, my machine onley have one nic card, did everything
microsoft say to do, still wont work

Have you tried swapping out network cables? network cards? hubs/switches?
Can other clients get IP addresses from DHCP?
If you statically assign your computer a IP address, can you ping the DHCP
server?

I have a problem that sounds somewhat similar.
Wy W2K box (SP2) had the IP configuration screwed up by an application
that monitors network ports. I'm behind a router, and my Linux box
still works just fine.

I had my IP confic set for DHCP. But now, when I do an IPconfig, it
tells me that Autoconfiguraiton is Enabled, and provides some unknown
IP address. It also won't let me release the IP address, even though
my settings are for DHCP, wtht he correct gateway IP address. The
error message when I try to /release is that "all adapters bound to
DHCP do not have DHCP addresses. The addresses are automatically
configured and cannot be released." I only have one network card.

I tried to manually configure the IP; I can ping an IP address, and
traceroute an IP address, but not a URL, even though DNS and all other
information is correct.

I will check to see if the DHCP Client service is enablesd, but
failing that, what should I do?
Thanks.

i did that still the same problem, i also reformat the
system, i took the cable from a working system and nothing

Also, make sure that you've installed the ms03-039 patch before you connect
a formatted and freshly installed machine to the network and/or internet.
