Then Kevin replied below:
Yes the DHCP server is Win2k. And yes it is part of the
AD. The error I keep getting while trying to connect to
the internet is Server cannot be found or DNS error.
Every other pc can connect but this one. I have had IBM
and another well known Applied systems working on this
with no luck. I reload W2K on this pc with IBM's restore
and now it cannot connect. All I can find is the Event ID
error or the error that displays on the page when trying
to access the internet. Thanks again.
DHCP should not prevent you from getting on the internet.
Did you Authorize the DHCP server in AD?
Is it giving the proper addresses out in its scope options?
DHCP should be configured with a minimum of these Scope options.
003 Router (Your internet router's address)
005 DNS Server (It should give out only the address of the local DNS server
for your AD Domain, not an ISP's DNS)
015 DNS Domain Name (It should give the domain name of your AD domain)
If your local DNS sderver is unable to resolve internet names configure it
as per this KB article, making sure you have deleted the "." forward lookup
zone.
