Dfs Links and Registry cleanup

Adding a new Dfs link results in some new keys to be added
to the registry; the keys are added under
<HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\CurrentControlSet\System\Service\ntFrs\
Replica Set.

But, it seems that when the Dfs link is removed from the
Dfs toplogy, the registry of the server that hosted the
deleted shared does not get cleaned up. Any idea if there
is a fix for it (other than manually removing the keys
from the registry).

thanks,

Fari

Fari,

If the server where the dfs link was removed does not have any other dfs
links on it, you can run the following command from the command prompt and
it will clean out all dfs link information out of the the registry of that
server. The command is:

dfsutil /clean:servername
