DFS folder contents invisible and folder cannot be manipulated

I have a workstation which can't see or manipulate the contents of a DFS
folder on a server in the same site as the sorkstation. This is a small LAN
with a single server acting as DC and file & print (W2K sp4 with all updates).
All the other workstations and users can see and manipulte the contents of
the DFS folder, and can do through mapped drives, Network Places and UNC. The
problem workstation can see and manipulate the contents if it is browsed to
through Network Places or connected to through Start>>>Run>>>UNC, but can't
by using mapped drives, which he needs to be able to do. From within the
mapped drive, he can see the folder, but when he opens it, it is empty, even
though there are subfolders. Also, when he tries to copy anything into the
DFS, her gets the generic "access denied" error message.
The DFS root is created on a new hard drive I installed in the site server
in order to create more data storage, then created the linked folder under
the mapped drive folder on the old hard drive.
I've tried rebooting to clear the client MUP cache, have checked all the
security settings, and reviewed stuff on TechNet, but I'm baffled. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Normally a reboot will fix this. What is this workstation's OS versus the
other workstations that can access the DFS folder?

Have you tried unmapping and remapping the drive?

Hi Jill,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried rebooting, with no effect. All of these
machines are W2k Pro with sp4 and all critical updates. I haven't tried
unmaqpping and remapping the drive. I will let you know when I do, if it
works or not.
