I recently installd a new hard drive and windows
installed my hard drive a G:. I need to change that
designation in order to install a few programs that have
an unchangeable install folder of c:. windows set a
removeable USB storage devive as my C: drive. Can I fix
this ?????????

The reason your windows was installed as G (not C) is because you had your
USB device plugged in during installation. Anytime you wish to install
windows as C there must not be a device present that has the C drive
designation during install.

I have managed to change the USB device to T: but windows
will not allow me to change the hard drive deignation.
Can I change it to C: now? Is there any way around this?

Cari,

I would not advise the Repair because there is a possibility that some
software may have been installed that does not follow Windows conventions
and pointers to drive may be hard coded in the program. If there was no
other software installed then the Repair would probably be sufficient to
correct the pointers but since new install of Windows is fairly fast theses
days.....it may be almost as fast to just re-install.

If you changed the device from with-in windows then that is not sufficient.
If your Bios let's you assign the drive letter then that may work as long as
you do it before Windows install but is it not just as easy to pull out the
drive before install?
