I've just started developing Access databases for
customers. Any guidance on typical fees charged by
developers to use as a rough guide?

Thanks,

Tommy

It is so difficult to judge a base rate.

It really depends on what, and how much you bring to the table.

If you doing both the design work and also the coding work..then often your
rates can be much higher. Companies do not pay for ms-access work..but in
fact pay for solutions.

If you are just building a few forms with the wizard..you likely can't
expect to get paid as much as someone who is migrating the access database
to sql server.

When hiring a ms-access developer I actually look for strong sql skills, and
a good understaing of database. I even ask questions like:

What did the last class object you wrote in ms-access do?

The above question is one of many...and is not a make or break question.
However, questions like the above do give me a feel for where one stands in
terms of using the IDE that ms-access offers.

I would head on down to www.realrates.com

That site has a lot more stuff about consulting...and is far more on-topic
then is this newsgroup.
