I recently performed a non-destructive recovery on my Win XP computer. Now on
startup, I get the following error message:

DevDtct2.exe - Unable to locate component

This application has failed to start because OdiAPI.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Got an Olympus camera? If so, you might want to reinstall the software that came
with your camera.

Good luck

Hi Nepatsfan,

I don't have an Olympus camera...I do have an Olympus digital voice
recorder, but I didn't reinstall the software that came with it. Could some
left over files from that software be causing the problem? Just to reiterate,
a non-destructive recovery wouldn't have wiped my hard drive clean.

Sorry about the confusion. When I did a Google search for DevDtct2.exe the first
site listed simply referred to Olympus software. I assumed it was for a camera,
my mistake. I went back and found a source with additional info.

What is DevDtct2.exe

That said, the solution doesn't change. The first thing to try would be to
uninstall and reinstall the software that came with your digital voice recorder.
