Determining password for Win2K administrative

There are quite a few tools out there to get in to your Windows 2000 machine
when you've forgotten the administrative password, but it seems that all of
them I've found do so by resetting the admin password, not by determining
what it is.

Are there any that can *determine* the current password?

In about a week I will be working on a corporate machine that's locked down.
The regular user accounts don't allow you to do squat, but I need to install
some software. So I'd like to either (1) figure out how to give my user
account admin privileges; or (2) determine the current admin password. You
see, if I change the admin password, I might get busted. Thanks.

You would have to 'crack' the password using Loftcrack or some other
cracking tool. I think you would get more 'busted' by doing this than
changing the password though ;0

I just happened to stumble upon your post. I don't have
an answer for you, but you have addressed a problem of
mine. I have long since forgotten my admin password.
(Every week I try a couple possibilities.) Could you
advise me on a tool to use that would reset my password so
I can tatoo it on my forehead. Thanks, Dan Bukaty 1-888-

All you gotta do is download some past history of this newsgroup and do a
search on "password". Quite a few will guide you.
