How do I display how much memory my system has onboard? I
know about the DOS "mem" command, but the results are
cryptic. Help and thanks.

There are several ways, if you're talking about Win2000.

One good way, which will also help you in a lot of other situations, is
to use Start/Settings/ControlPanel/AdministrativeTools/ComputerManagement,
which will bring up a window with a rich set of applets. The System
Information/System Summary applet shows your physical memory size.

Depress the Windows key + the Break key. The last line of the resultant
dialog box shows the exact memory installed.

Real simple, huh?

The DOS "mem" command is ALWAYS going to show the same result.

Run TaskManager or 'winmsd' or 'msinfo32' or reboot to see the BIOS report.
If you have shared memory for a video adapter the SystemProperties applet
will report the memory available for the OS.
