I have been asked to determine which of our Active
Directory servers provided the authentication to other
servers but don't have any knowledge about AD and need
some elementary help.

How can I tell which of the AD servers actually provided
the authentication to other servers running in our network.

Windows 2000 network, two AD servers, (primary and
secondary).

Thanks in advance for the help.

Can you be more detailed on the scenario here ? What do you mean by other
servers ? Services on those servers ? If you need to know which server
authenticated user, then just go into command prompt and see LOGONSERVER
local variable with SET command.

That is the information I needed. Using SET LOGONSERVER
tells me which AD server provided the authentication.

Thanks very much.
