Is there a possibility to find out when a file is loaded or saved. I know it can be done by comparing the
Last Access Time of the file. But I have to check a directory that contains more then 2000 files.

Is there a service within Windows 2000 that gives me a message when somebody has access to a file
( loading or saving a file)?

You must enable auditing on your server, and then define auditing on
specific folder. This will generate log about who, when and what accessed
the file ?

Look into Symantec Intruder Alert if the auditing does not
cut it for your needs. They have a good file tampering
policy that will notify you of any change or modification
to particular files.
