Detecting Spyware

Just installed Antispyware beta. Ran it and found TightVNC.
Installed Spyware Doctor, ran it and found Trojan.favadd, downloadplus,
flashget and some cookies. Question; why did Antispyware beta not find the
latter?

Hi Edward.

Do you have the latest definition file installed? It should be 5771.

If you do, it might be worth submitting to MS. You can do this by using
Tools> Suspected Spyware Report from within the prog. This option seems to
work for some but not others. Different anti spyware progs use different
definition files to indentify spyware/malaware etc. which is why most people
use two or three. What one doesn`t catch the other hopefully will. As for the
cookies. MSAS in its present beta has the option to detect them disabled -
this is intentional.

Hi Stu,
Thanks for the response. Updated definition file to 5771. Same result.
Will send message to MS

Spyware Doctor is known to report false positives. That's what you might be
experiencing.
