I have searched around for this for awhile but I have no luck so far.
Is there a way to enable that I always view the details of all the
folders I go to? I know there is the customize folder, but this is
only useful if I am looking only on my machine. There is a lot of
network shares connected to my machine and whenever going to those
folders, it defaults to how they were set up, not to how I want to
view. In essence, generating a thumbnail view can take litterally 5-10
mins for some of these folders and that is time I can not waste
because when it is trying to generate these and folder icons, I can
not do anything with that window. Any help you could provide would be
greatly appreciated.

BTW- I have set the reg key of use classic windows to 1 and have all
non-critical UI elements off.

Thanks again,
William

Hi William,
If you want all folders to display the details view, open up any folder and
set the view to details and then click on tools>folder options and flip to
the display tab and click on "Apply to all folders".

Anando-
Perhaps I wasn't clear enouogh, I don't want to have to this for all
the folders I go to, I want the OS to do it automatically for me. Is
there a way to permanatly turn on the details view or at least disable
the thumbnail/picture & folder preview?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Explorer\Advanced\ClassicViewState and set it to 1.

My bad. Works as it shows it only in icon mode but is there a way to
always browse in details mode?
THanks for the help.
