we got a new computer and i transferred 5 gig of photos to the new computer, but when i go to view details and add date picture taken (which worked on the old computer) and camera type the are both blank with transferred photos. i have tried to download new photos to see if this was a transfer issue and the new photos don't have the info i wanted either

i can't think of anything that would have taken this feature away

if you have any ideas i would certainly appreciate them. you can e-mail me or post her
thank
Rachel

If you right click one of the image files and
from the menu...choose...Properties / Summary
tab / Advanced button...are the 'date picture
taken' and 'camera model' values listed?

I don't know how you transferred your files, but
some programs can strip the metadata from
digital images.

Maybe you could use the following freebie to
backup and restore your info.

To bring this info back.
Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
This will take a second to run and should return the date picture taken.
This will work on your hard drive, but not when opening a CD-R. With a CD-R
you need to go to Properties of individual photo files and read it from
there. If you use CDs to transfer photos and you can see date picture taken
on the file on the CD, date picture taken should be on your hard drive after
you run the above command.
