I didn't realize I had movie maker after I had installed SP2. Then a year
later when I need to lburn some powerpoints to DVD, that I already had the
software necessary. Then I recalled that about a year ago spybot had listed
something called movie maker as a problem, so I fixed it. I guess I really
fixed it. I have looked on my SP2 disk and seen no apparent sign of movie
maker 2.1, so I am wondering how I can correct the mistake I made with spybot.

Try the following...go to...Start / Run...
enter..."moviemk.exe" / press...Enter.
If movie maker is on your system it will
launch.

If you do not have movie maker...you
could reinstall SP2 or have a look at

XP SP2 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
is not installed successfully?

Thanks for your help. Before I proceed with your suggestions I should point
out that I have all the 2.1.4026.0 dlls. I don't have any of the 1.1.2427.0
dlls or the icon moviemkWindows Movie Maker Microsoft Corp. which I presume
is your executable. Were these missing files part of the original Movie
Maker before SP2 gave me the upgrade? If so, do I need to install the
original movie maker first?
Thanks

"moviemk.exe" is the sexcutable name for all versions of movie maker so you
cannot tell the version no by just the executable name.

You could not have uninstalled the movie maker DLLs (original or the newer)
because these are "system components" and normally protected by the system.
So dont worry just proceed witht he instructions on the link I provided.
