John ... WinXP does not support Distinctive Ring. This has been a
reoccuring question in the newsgroups as you can see in the following

Some claim that they have been able to set up specific modems to use DR by
using the initialization commands to the modem ... you might take a look at
a posting from Kyle R in http://tinyurl.com/ytv0 wherein he claims he was
able to configure his US Robotics modem to answer DR.
Can't personally vouch for any of these 'tweaks' but you might take a look.
Further, you might check Radio Shack for switches which will do this, or try
