Please help

When I tried to boot my computer, it gave the error
message: Operating system not found

As advised, I tried the Restore CD

But it gives the message: Cannot open Ghosterr.txt

Can anyone help...I'm desperate

Thanks
Frank

If your restore CD did not resolve the issue, you need to contact your
system manufacturer's tech support as the disk was supplied by them as it's
a non-standard disk supplied by them designed by them or their contractor
for their recovery routine. This is an OEM issue and these vary by specific
manufacturers.

Thanks for the response. The manufacturers sent a new
Restore CD, but same message re. Ghosterr.txt

And then a Usage error 11030 - Invalid Destination drive

Cheers

Frank;
There may be a problem with the CD drive.
Use a CD drive cleaning kit.

Power off open case and reseat hard drive and CD-ROM IDE ribbon cables
at both ends.
Other than that, contact the manufacturer again.

Hello Frank
You will receive this message when your hard drive is going bad, check the
BIOS and see if the drive shows in there, if you will go to the website of
the drive manufacturer most of them have diagnostic tools you can download
and run to check for a faulty drive.

Frank,

Please excuse me for bumping up this topic, but perhaps the answer I
found to this one may help others who are encountering this problem.

I found this site by entering the phrase "usage error 11030" into
Google because I had the same hassle

I tore my hair out for days trying to sort this one out, even spending
$45 on the recommendation of my PC's manufacturer and buying another
restore disc for my brand of PC because they insisted that my restore
disc was faulty and not allowing the "usage error 11030" fault to be
over ridden by the restore disc.

My brother, who knows a bit about PC's, took my box apart and found
that the cable to the hard drive was loose, clicked it back in and
bingo, problem fixed!

Don't know if this helps anyone else, but perhaps a faulty cable may be
the answer if everything else does not restore.
