My father died earlier this year and when we went to develop the film in the
camera, the last photo ever taken of my mum and dad is a double exposure.
Is there anyway to "fix" this for my mum. I have a photo scanner and Adobe
photoshop as well as Jasc paint Shop Pro but I am not an expert by any
means.

Many thanks in advance for any direction you might provide.

Hard to say without seeing the photo. Would
it be possible for you to scan the photo and
post it on a website so it could be evaluated?

Post the link to the image in this newsgroup
and you may receive the info you require.

If you do not have a website available to you,
there are several choices at the following link:

Personally, I've been happy with ClubPhoto.

I downloaded your photo to bring it into Photoshop. It is only 34kb so it's
not only too small to make a print, there's not enough
to work with to try to get rid of the tree scene in the spot in the picture
as your late dad.

As this is the only last photo you have, can you scan the print into a
bigger scan? Try for at least a 2mb JPG file for a 4x6 print. Can't make any
promises but that will be a better starting point.

I am very grateful for John's work - truly amazed at what he has
accomplished with what he had to work with (and wishing I could do the same)
.... and my mum is thrilled!!

I am also blown away by the willingness to help others that is shown by kind
people in the news group community.

Your restoration looks quite good to me.

What does Donnie think?

Hi,

Thanks for the compliment but I would be
interested to see what you can do with the
image in PhotoShop...I only use Digital
Image Pro.

If you want to give it a try, post an address.

It's nice to hear that your mum was happy with
the image.

It appears to me that what you've done isn't really dependent on the
software tool employed but rather on the
skill of the person altering the photo.

My e-mail is mailto:[email protected] ; please send the scan
promptly.

Donnie: do you have any other dad photos from which I can see what he looked
like?

Gary G

That one does work; in fact Donnie, or more specifically Yvonne Ivey sent me
a 100kb size file to that address (and another
file I couldn't use) on Friday.
