I have been at my computer for 3 days trying to figure
this one out. I just recently got an external CD-RW
drive, installed the software and hardware, and my
computer won't burn any CD information - it kept giving
me an application error. I was on the phone with the
company today, and did some changes that seemed like it
would work (disabled the I/O) and actually had one
successful burnt CD. However, now, when I run the
burning program, about halfway through the burn, my
computer automatically shuts down and restarts, giving me
the error on my log: fautly application speedycd.exe,
faulty module speedycd.exe. I have tried installing and
reinstalling the program - I know it is a problem with
the computer, i Just dont know what. Does anyone know why
my computer might be continuously shutting down during a
CD burn or how to fix it? (By the way, I always unplug
the internet and shut down all other applications during
this).

Hi Virginia.

Is Speedycd the program you use?

And whats the brand of the external cdrw?
And what is it? USB 2? Other?

If its USB, is USB enabled in the BIOS
of the computer? Did XP install drivers?
Or did you install them from a CD?

Look in Control Panel/System/Hardware
Device Manager. Are there any conflicts?
!'s X's? / unknown, anywhere in Device Manager?

To fix that rebooting, go to Control Panel/
System/Advanced/Settings. Then System Failure
and untick automatically reboot. Then OK till
you get back to the desktop. Usually when it
reboots, it means it crashed, and/or the program
youre using is kinda screwed! Or something
with the software / program you're using and/or
the drivers maybe for the CDRW (if you installed
the drivers, if XP didnt install them), maybe corrupted.

Let us know
