No , there isn't! Only by making a user account that only you, yourself
use, can you avoid tampering with customizable settings. Thinking again,
though, perhaps a virtual desktop manager might be the ticket? With one of
these you could run it yourself and create multiple desktops but I'm not too
sure if they keep settings on exit since I've never used one. I've heard
that Microsoft makes a free one called, unimaginatively, 'Desktops'
At least it deals with the annoying situation where temporarily changing
screen resolution trashes your desktop layout.
