I am restoring my files to a new HD via Carbonite. When the restore
completed I noticed that my files which had previously resided in my Desktop
were restored to C:\Documents and Settings\LF\Desktop. Is there a way to get
these files to show up in Desktop by associating the folder C:\Documents and
Settings\LF\Desktop with ???? I did take and simply copy these files from
C:\Documents and Settings\LF\Desktop to Desktop; however, Carbonite looked
like it was going to back up these files again which I do not want to happen.
Probably a dumb question but would appreciate any help from those who are
smarter. Thanks!

Hi Frank. Two things:

#1 - Carbonite restores folders to the same folders from which the
were backed up. So on your old computer, your desktop was in the pat
C:\Documents and Settings\LF\Desktop - your username is probabl
different on the new computer, which is why they didn't show on th
"current" desktop. The desktop is actually a folder in the pat
C:\Documents and Settings\-username-\Desktop (o
C:\Users\-username-\Desktop if you run Vista).

#2 - If you manually move the files to the locations you prefer, it ma
SEEM like Carbonite is backing up the files again, but really Carbonit
is just updating the location of the file in your backup. It does no
actually have to transfer the files again, as long as they haven'
changed since the last time they were backed up. Feel free to move you
files around as much as you like.

Please let us know if you have additional questions by e-mailin
(e-mail address removed).

Sincerely,
