Desktop shutdown shortcut

My desktop shortcut has recently started to take approx 15 seconds to
initiate the shutdown process Used to be approx 2 seconds.

When I shutdown using the Start>Turn off Computer>Turn Off method, there
is just the usual brief, couple of second pause before the initiation of
the shutdown process.

Other than Windows updates, I haven't added or removed any software.

Could the delay be due to an update or do I need to look elsewhere.

A delay of 13 seconds, probably occurring only once a day, isn't even worth
looking into, as far as I'm concerned.
 
Have you installed any new software lately?
Firewall, AV, Spyware detection or other software can slow things down.

Not overly concerned Ken, but I am curious as to why the Shutdown
Shortcut on my desktop should suddenly take much longer than using
Start>Turn Off Computer>Turn Off. Especially as I haven't added or
deleted anything.

The computer has to be shut down after each session - approx 5 or 6
times a day - hence the delay being obvious.

Did a work around with Bob Cerelli's "Bringing up the Shutdown Dialog
Box".
