desktop shortcuts

We are a university computer lab. We recently installed
WinXP on a few of the machines. On each one, the desktop
shortcuts to not lead to their intended drives. Instead,
each says the drive is not found and sends the user to
browse for the drive. What is the solution to this
problem? I'm sure it is a simple one, but reinstalling
the shortcuts does not work.

Have you tried accessing them from My Computer? Short cuts to A:, B:, D:, &
E: do not function. A windows thing Microsoft is working on.
