Is it possible to create a desktop shortcut for Task Manager? I'm
using XP Home SP2. Did a Google search but couldn't find what I'm looking
for.

Never mind. Wesley Vogel posted this solution that I found on Google
Groups:

Create a short cut to Task Manager...
Right click the Desktop | Point to New | Click Shortcut |
Paste this in the location box...

%windir%\system32\taskmgr.exe

Click the Next button | Type: Task Manager in
the name box | Click the Finish button |

The executable for Task Manager is:

C:\Windows\System32\taskmgr.exe

Right-click on the icon and select Send To...Desktop.

CTRL+Shift+Esc works for me.

Boy, I must have been quick! I just read this. LOL

When I use Task Manager, I'm generally only look at the Processes tab.
I like to see how much memory usage a program is gobbling up. I click a
couple of times on the 'Mem Usage' tab to arrange them from highest to
lowest.

Is it possible to configure Task Manager so that programs are ALWAYS
listed from highest memory usage to lowest when I open it?

Your idea makes so much sense that you would think someone in Redmond
would have it covered. However, taskmgr.exe does not have command line
switches. Perhaps you can find a third-party program that does this. (If
so, please back with the details!)

Try "Process Explorer" free:-

When you run it another time it seems to remember the previous
settings of the various columns.

I find it much better than MS Task Manager.
