I am a new user to winxp. I have set up accounts for all
the family. My daughter has installed Kaza which
automatically starts up in all the other accounts as
well. I have removed it from the startup on my account.
Now Kaza does not open and the dialup connection has
vanished from her account and an annoying message keeps
popping up,
P2P Networking-can't start server.
Please help

Kazaa was nice enough to install on your system additional
free software. This software is SOOO useful to you and your
daughter. See it's called "Spyware" and it's just like a virus
in that it can and usually does mess up the operation of your
system. IN fact it will "follow you around online" and send
"home to momma" different information it gets from what you
do.

Kazaa can install the following: Brilliant Digital, Cydoor,
DoubleClick, DownloadWare, Net.net, PromulGate, SaveNow. It
will do this without asking you or telling or even caring if
you like it or not. YOU don't count. YOU are just sheep to be
sheared. SO YOU now have all this wonderful software on your
system. Oh and as you have discovered: Kazaa isn't interested
in spending much time writing good UNinstall routines so it's
really messy and petulant about leaving.

You need to go get something like Spybot Search & Destroy (
http://security.kolla.de/ ) - it's free - and run it to find
and get rid of all the trash you now have running on your
system.

THEN you can better trouble shoot your connection. So log on
as someone that has a connection, connect, get it, use it,
then redo her connection. Tell her never ever ever use Kazaa
again for as long as she lives or you will have to sell her to
the next band of gypsies that come along.

Oh and make sure you run the UPDATE on Spybot before you scan.
That way you have the most current scan when you do.

Also most ISP's provide free support to reinstalling
connections but you want your system cleaned out of trash
first.

I hope this helps you somewhat.

Kazaa does have spyware, however my advice is to uninstall
kazaa then run spybot. If your family needs Kazaa google
for "Kazaa lite" it's Kazaa without the spyware. BTW Kazaa
is no good anyway.
