Outlook 2007 keeps dunning me to install Desktop Seach but the installation
consistently fails with an "Access Denied" error message. Since I use
another desktop search application, I don't really need another one and I
would like to get rid of the dunning message. The only choices provided is
to OK the installation or Remind Me Later.

If I have to install Windows Desktop Search, I need to determine why the
error message. Probably a registry permissions problem but I don't know
which entry to change permissions. Is there an installation log somewhere?

Could well be UAC preventing this - presuming it's on a Vista machine :o)

Many users don't know how to disable "desktop search" prompt from outlook.
Desktop search is an add-in for outlook which makes it possible to index your
e-mails so you can find them faster.
Here is how you can disable it:
Tools-->options--->other-->advance options-->"show prompts to download
windows desktop search"
Unselect this box.
