I saw someone's laptop the other day, and their desk top was a slideshow of
various pictures, each one on for 5 or 10 seconds or so.
How does this happen?

Open Control Panel, open Display, go to the Screen Saver tab, one of the
options in the list of Screen Savers is Screen Saver Slideshow. There are
also many third party graphics applications that have such a feature as
well.

Though I don't use if for this specific function, I have it. It's very
useful even if you have a full featured graphics program. I do have one and
I still find IrfanView enormously useful.

I'm impressed! I now have the XP one running, and will down load IrFan View
now. Thanks for your help!

Hi,
Did you get an answer to your question?
If on XP, on your desktop - right click to the properties
point, go to screen saver and use the drop down box to
fine "my pictures slideshow". That did it for me.
