Hi All,

We have a windows 2000 domain with win 2000 Pro and Win XP Pro clients. I
need to prevent users to save any files to desktop. How can i do it with
group policy ?

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

You can deny the user the write permission to the desktop within a GPO.

As users have full-write access to their user profiles Desktop folder
by default, there are two ways you can do this.

1> Impose Mandatory Profiles which means any changes they make are not
saved on logoff. This includes any desktop saves.

2> Redirect their desktop to a Read-Only folder on the server. Beware
of this though as if the server ever goes offline they will all lose
their desktops.
