Hi I need to read some files off the old hard disk from my old computer, now
installed as a spare hard drive on my new one. Both computers use xp .

The old desktop was password protected, and now I cannot access the old
files in my docs - access is denied.

Any ideas?

If the files were not encrypted, you can regain access by taking ownership:
