Desktop problem

I logged on this morning to discover that all of my icons had been rearranged.

What is going on and how do I stop it, please?

I use Win 10

Have you just had the automatic Windows 10 update (the Fall Update)? It's pretty hefty and can sometimes rearrange icons. Check to see if you recently got it in Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > View Installed Update History.
