This probably won't help you unless you have the hardware to fit the
case....but oh well :D.

How much of the system needs moved? A simple handle like
the previous poster linked could work (and something similar
might be available locally from a hardware store as a
heavy-duty cabinet handle plus washers), though it might
depend on how thick the upper metal is, the case size and
weight as well as access inside to mount them as well as
your willingness to strip the system down to do this.

I'm wondered if the terrain to the garage would accomodate a
cart. Either a traditional cart, or a more streamlined
approach such as taking a piece of plywood and finishing off
the edges so they look nice, mounting that to the floor of
the case and then mounting some jumbo wheels on the bottom,
several inches in diameter if the terrain necessitates it.

Another option might be to get some nylon or canvas belt or
strap material and make your own strap that wraps around
with quick-release buckles. That is if you can't find one
ready-made that accomdates the case. Here's one, google
search for "case carrying strap" to find more;

Appreciate the links guys, I am really torn between the Handle or th
Strap, I am thinking that the Handle might be th
"sturdier" of the two but I am wondering i
"drilling" into the top of the case wher
"vibrations" are concerned might do any damage to an
component inside the case

It will only be sturdier if the top of the case is thick
metal and it is reinforced properly with large washers. On
the other hand if a strap did not tighten well, that could
be a problem. My previous link was only an example of a
strap, likely for more $ you can get a better strap but
offhand I don't know which straps are good.

No, because you have to take all the parts out first else
there will be metal particles all over them. If the case is
fairly heavy or thin metal you may need two handles anyway,
nearer each end rather than one in the middle which means
you would have to remove devices in the upper front bays and
the power supply (assuming the typical case layout) to have
access to the screws to fasten down the handle. That is,
unless you case is one of the very old ATX styles that has a
large U-shaped outer skin that is one piece rather than the
(normally) more convenient modern designs with separate side
panels and (normally) a permanently riveted-on top panel.

As for vibrations, I doubt they'd be a problem with a normal
drill rather than a hammer drill as it isn't all that bad to
drill a small diameter hole in sheet metal but I can't
guarantee it.
