I have Win2000 Pro installed with a wireless usb adapter
installed. I have a linksys wireless router installed
which acts as a DHCP Server. It was all working fine
until I removed the USB adaptor and reinstalled it again,
now the PC will not get an address from the router. Even
if I hard wire to the router, no address is collected. I
have tested IP by pinging 127.0.0.1 and it worked.

I know that the router is working because I am connecting
through it to post this message. This happened a few
weeks ago and I ended up reinstalling Windows and
everything else....I don't really want to do that again
unless I have to.

Any ideas? Do I need to give more information?

Tried that and it didn't work. I can try it again tonight
and write down the error message and post it here.

Can you ping your router?

The IP should be something like 192.168.xxx.xxx

If you can't ping your router than your network connection is not good.

No I can't...I get destination unreachable. Tried
several different cards etc, but same thing. Even on
dialup the other week. Rebuilding the PC does resolve,
but I think there should be a solution somewhere.

If I try and do an IPCONFIG /RENEW it says that I can't
do it on something that isn't a socket!

I'm having the same problem and I tried connecting the net cable to my
laptop and it works there, but not on my PC.

Same here....I know that the "network" works because I can
attach to it with my laptop.
