Right click on "My Pictures" or "My Music" folder. Choose "Customize" and
under "what type of folder do you want?" Choose either "pictures & videos"
or "Music Items". Hope this is what you meant.

The files that start with "My" in Vista are not folders at all. They are
junction points that can direct older program installers to the correct
Vista folder. Just leave them alone.

Use the folders named "Pictures", "Music", "Documents", etc. under your
C:\Users\(youraccount)\

Open a command prompt, navigate to the co:\users\<username>\folder
Type "attrib +or music" (without the quotes) and press enter
Check the attributes of the folder by typing "attrib music".
It should look like this

C:\Users\Rogue>attrib music
R C:\Users\Rogue\Music

close the console window and all should be normal.

You named this thread "desktop.ini files" so I am assuming that you are
having problems with these files?

Where, exactly are you looking when you see the standard folder icons
instead of the custom icons for these folders? Are you seeing this in
Windows Explorer, or......???

Are the Desktop.ini files still in these folders, or.....???

We cannot see your monitor from here, so we have to rely on your description
of the problem.
