Desktop images on the Install disk

there is nothing to find on the Vista DVD ( there is only one, containing
all vistas. ) because it is no longer a bunch of setup files but an
compressed image called install.wim.

These *.wims can only be mounted via imageX which is a tool from MS.

Once mounted you find a complete Windows Installation on a virtual drive.

ImageX is no standalone program, it is included in the WAIK ( Windows
Automated Install Kit ) and this is only intended for OEM and Systembuilder
to prepare Vista on new machines.

also notice that it is forbidden per EULA to "extract resources" and use
them in other OS.

I really wish Microsoft would have included the green image shown in
the setup and login screen as a desktop background. I love it.
