Desktop Icons

All of my desktop icons have disappeared. I know they're
not deleted, since whenever i start up my computer it
shows them for a brief moment. How do I get them back?

Right click on the Desktop, in the pop-up menu select Arrange Icons by .
"Show Desktop Icons".
If they are still missing, right click on the Desktop, choose...,
"Properties||Desktop||Customise Desktop".
You can add or remove icons such as My Computer, My Documents and My Network
Places.
