brian

i just perchased a new pc with windows xp already
installed. i noticed that the desktop items have the box
around the icon title (ex. My Computer) the color of the
Desktop, instead of showing the new feature in xp with no
box behind the title...just the letters/words with a
shadow underneath. how can i change it to where the title
of the icons have the shadow underneath the words and
view of the desktop wallpaper underneath (instead of the
box as in older versions of windows)?

thanks
brian

Hi,

Right Click on your screen and click on properties.
Then go into the Appearance tap.
Then click on the Advanced Button.
In the new window you should see
Item:
Desktop

To the right of this you should see color 1:

Select white as the color.

Say Ok.
Then apply.

Hopefuly this works,

Scott

hi
thanks, but that didnt work either. it just changed the
box to white. any other suggestions??

- Right-click "My Computer"
- In "System Properties" box, go to the "Advanced" tab
- Under "Performance" click the "Settings" button (top
one)
- On the "Performance Options" box, click the "Visual
Styles" tab and scroll to the bottom. Make sure that "Use
drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is checked.

In fact, to get full XP visual effect, all these should
be checked on.

THANKS!
that did it. thanks for your help.
