desktop icons

My desktop icons don't show on the desktop. When viewing
the desktop folder in Windows explorer they show up fine.

I right clicked the Desktop and select Properties. Then
under the Desktop tab I click Customize Desktop. There I
check all the checkboxes for My Documents, My Computer,
My Network Places and Internet Explorer. Then I clicked
apply. Still nothing shows up on the desktop. How do I
get those icons on the desktop?

right click on desktop.select 'arrange icons by' then

click 'show desktop icons'
