How do I get the desktops Icons to Automatically align
themselves, like they do in XP?

I can auto align, but that sets them to the left. How di I
set them anywhere and auto align to a grid, like XP?

Windows 2000 icon allign features are slightly different than Windows XP. You will notice that if you move your icons to different areas on the screen and the right click the desktop and select Line Up Icons they will re-allign themselves but to the nearest "gridline". They won't line up to a specified gridline.

Yes, but Windows XP aligns to the nearest gridline
automatically. How do I make win 2k do the same?

No auto align sets all the icons to one side. Xp aligns to
the nearest grid for each icon.

Ah just double checked, Auto Align OFF, click on Line Up Icons to pop
them to the Grid. No auto function that I'm aware of in 2000.
