Desktop icons change position.

The icons on my desktop change to the left for no apparent
reason. Auto arrange is not checked. A most frustrating
problem. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Bruce,
Can you give a little more detail on exactly what you're seeing? I.e.: are
the icons shifting just slightly to the left, or all the way across the
desktop, etc.?

Is multiple monitor support enabled?

Are there any third-party / OEM display utilities installed?

Is there a USB dongle attached to the system? I know that's an odd question;
we had a case in which the USB dongle drivers had to be updated to resolve a
similar issue.
