I am also having a problem with my desktop icons and have tried everything
recommened to get them back to the way that they were when I got my computer
and nothing seems to be working. They all of a sudden changed on me and I
want them back to the way that they were. Does anyone have any suggestions
or something they think I should try again?

Since you have not said exactly what you have tried I don't know how you
expect us to suggest anything else to try.
Also it would be helpful to know what problem you are having and other
details about your system configuration.

This is what I have tried...

Open Control Panel,Click Folder Options and enable Show hidden files and
folders.
Now search for IconCache.db file and delete the file.Restart the system.

Resetting the icon cache should restore the correct icons.
1. Right-click a blank area of the desktop, select Personalize
2. Select Display Settings.
3. In the Colors field, select a different color depth. For example, if the
current color depth setting is Highest (32-bit), click Medium (16-bit).
4. Click Apply.
5. Change back to the original Color setting.
6. Click Apply.
7. OK your way out.

I just want my icons to go back to the way that they were when I originally
got my computer. They now are like icons on Windows XP. Is there any way to
just restore the original desktop?

It would certainly help if you would describe how they were and how there
are now.
My Icons look exactly the same on Vista as they did on XP so I do not
understand your problem without more description of what it is.

They don't pop out when I scroll over them. And some of them are smaller and
have boxes around them. I don't know how else to describe it.

Right-click on the empty desktop>left-click View
You can change how the Icons look from there!

None of the options it gives me gets them back to the way that they were. Is
there any way to just reinstall the old icons without deleting everything and
starting completely over?
